A Place for Books & Ideas

There is something wonderfully enduring about a book. Civilizations rise and fall, fashions come and go, and technologies that once seemed indispensable find themselves gathering dust in cupboards under stairs. Yet the simple pleasure of opening a book and entering into conversation with another mind remains wonderfully unchanged.

Lozano Books was established in Lockhart, Texas, with a modest but serious ambition: to publish books worth reading, discussing, questioning, returning to, and recommending to friends. We believe that the written word still has an indispensable place in a world increasingly inclined toward speed, distraction, and the immediate gratification of the passing moment.

Our publishing house brings together several distinctive imprints devoted to Orthodox Christian theology, philosophy, history, literature, fiction, drama, and the enduring questions of human experience. Their subjects may differ considerably, but they share a conviction that good books ought to reward the time and attention we give them.

The Lozano Books Journal is an extension of that conviction.

Here, readers will find essays on subjects that interest us, reflections arising from works in progress, excerpts from forthcoming books, occasional excursions into the history of ideas, and introductions to the authors, traditions, and questions that shape our publishing program. Some entries will be scholarly, others conversational; we hope all will reward the time spent reading them.

We are particularly fond of the kind of intellectual conversation that begins with one question, wanders cheerfully through several centuries, and concludes by discovering that the original question was rather more interesting than anyone first supposed.

If that sounds like your sort of conversation, we hope you will make yourself at home here and peruse our titles.

Welcome to Lozano Books.
